How to make a strawberry lemonade smoothie without yogurt

This smoothie is vegan and no yogurt is needed. There are many ways for how to make a smoothie without yogurt.

In this case, the liquid base I use is soy milk. Any non-dairy milk works, but soy milk gives that protein boost that oat and almond milk don’t offer.

Bananas also lend smoothies their thickness. This strawberry lemonade smoothie is the best with a ripe banana (vs. a green or unripe banana) because it adds natural sweetness and texture. Frozen banana also works.

My favourite add-ins

If you are looking to increase the protein, healthy fats, or micronutrients in this smoothie, here are some of my fav nutrition boosters:

  • Protein powder: A scoop of unflavoured or vanilla protein powder is a great addition to this simple strawberry lemonade smoothie!
  • Chia seeds: Chia seeds provide omega-3 and bonus fibre and won’t change the flavour of your smoothie.
  • Oats: Oats are a great way to add bulk and fibre to a smoothie, making it more of a meal. To ensure your smoothie doesn’t get chunky, blend up your oats into a flour before adding the rest of the ingredients to the blender.
  • Spinach: A handful of spinach or kale will make this smoothie green, but it will be equally as delicious! Smoothies are a great way to add more greens to your diet.
