This custard toast recipe is a viral trend that you MUST try. It’s such an easy breakfast or dessert that literally takes less than 10 minutes to make.

What is Tiktok Viral Custard Toast?

This baked viral custard toast recipe is taking over social media. It’s similar to French toast but like, next level. The toast has a creamy custard center and crisp golden toast edges. It’s baked in the oven and gets all caramelized and truly gourmet.

Now, the classic custard yogurt toast seen in the popular tiktok toast trend uses greek yogurt and egg which is not vegan. I’ve developed an incredible vegan custard toast recipe that definitely one-ups the original.

My custard toast recipe uses soaked cashews, soy milk, and lemon juice to form a custardy base. This healthy custard is totally plant-based, rich in healthy fats, and high in plant fibre.

Viral custard toast recipe tips

  • Use thick, soft pieces of whole-wheat bread for best results. The softer and thicker your bread the more custardy goodness you’ll be able to put on the well.
  • Keep an eye on the cooking time, as ovens and air fryers vary in strength. You’re looking for crispy bread edges and caramelized custard.
  • Using a pinch of turmeric helps give your healthy custard a beautiful yellow colour, resembling that of egg custard.
