Meet Lisamarie, a vegan registered nutritionist and dietitian (RD)!

Education: Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist,University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

What motivated you to become a dietitian: I have always been interested in the medical field and my family emphasized the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. While studying nursing, I realized how nutrition is linked with disease. Then, in 2016, My fascination for this profession has grown since then as I love learning about how nutrition affects our physical and mental wellbeing

When did you become plant-based: I grew up in a vegetarian family and eventually transitioned to veganism. In 2014, I left my vegan diet for a little while until my health forced me to learn the importance of a plant-based approach. I have been plant-based ever since.

Why are you plant-based: I choose a plant-based lifestyle for my health, the environment, and to oppose animal cruelty. This way of life aligns with my core values.

Meet Ashley a vegan registered nutritionist and dietitian (RD)!

Education: Master of Science in Dietetics, Eastern Michigan University

What motivated you to become a dietitian: My intrigue for nutrition sparked when I realized how much of an effect food has on our well-being and its involvement in both the prevention and curing of sickness. My passion then grew immensely as I wanted to help others understand this correlation and learn how they too can fill their plates with colorful plants while still eating indulgent foods that make them feel happy.

When did you become plant-based: I switched to a plant-based diet in early 2012 and have never looked back.

Why are you plant-based: I am plant-based for my health, the animals, and the planet. I want to feel my best, show compassion to all living beings, and care for the future of our planet. By choosing a plant-based diet, I have the power to make an impact in all three of these areas, and that is highly valuable to me.

Meet Clara, a vegan registered nutritionist and dietitian (RD)!

Education: Hoge School Nijmegen, Netherlands. Course Work in Foods and Dietetics.

What motivated you to become a dietitian: I became a vegetarian at 14 when my mother was diagnosed with metastasized cancer. Conventional medicine offered little hope, so she embraced a vegetarian lifestyle, juicing, supplements, and faith in God. She lived another 13 years. Inspired by her journey, I delved into nutrition, fueled by a fascination with weight loss diets witnessed in my family.

When did you become plant-based: I have been Vegetarian since I was 14 and mainly vegan since I was 19 (though some Dutch baked goods can slip in from time to time)
