Education: Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
What motivated you to become a dietitian: I have always loved the medical field and grew up in a home that emphasized the importance of lifestyle medicine. In nursing school I started to understand the correlation between nutrition and disease. In 2016, I accidentally discovered dietetics and have been in love with this profession ever since. I love the way nutrition impacts our physical and mental wellbeing. I love the community and culture that surrounds our food. I love that sitting around a table or cooking in the kitchen brings people together. And it is exhilarating to learn about other cultures through their unique palates.
I believe nutrition is fundamentally and singularly the most important aspect of our health, directly increasing our quality of life.
Nutrition has become my passion and purpose in life. I love supporting people like yourself on your journey towards wholistic health and long term wellness.
When did you become plant-based: My family has always been vegetarian and over the years slowly transitioned to vegan. In 2014, I left my vegan diet for a little while until my health forced me to learn the importance of a plant based approach. I have been plant-based ever since.
Why are you plant-based: I am plant based for my health and longevity, for the benefit of the environment, and to oppose animal cruelty. I am plant-based because this lifestyle aligns with my core values.
